I posed the question to Vinnie about the subs, in a response I'm told that both Chad and Ralph Humphrey subbed for him at times.
My reply back was it does not look like either guy.
Got my copy today, and will check it out soon. Thanks Getes!

hey randy, when you get to....i think it's the 4th disc...you will DEFINITLEY see ralph humphrey subbing. the big trade mark beard. so, i am sure it's not ralph on the first dvd. doesn't look like chad either, the guy is not skinny enough! plus, chad still looks like a little kid, and in 86' he really looked like a little kid! it can't be him.
I remember a sub who definitely had the "Vinnie thing" going and have wondered for years who it was. Not Chad, maybe Humphrey, I'll know when I hear the fill - (I still remember it!). I'm too busy to watch the DVD's. Speaking of which...gotta go.
Just received my DVd pack today
Getes Romo did a real archivist job for vinnie playing on Joan Rivers show it's a concentrate of vinnie talent !!!
And in DVD 4 you have vinnie playing on Zildjian Day in Dallas 87 !! , i'll post a ssome preview of that for those who still hesitate about this pack
I think it's great that Vinnie's gift for drumming is being spread for many to witness, but to see this as an opportunity to make cash is not the way to go. I won't be posting links, but this set has now been offered on the Virgil forums after only two posts there...Tell me if I'm over-reacting but this ain't right.

WOW!!! I have really been out for awhile I did not realize what the heck was going on. I do not really have a problem with someone taping what is the Joan River's show in essence it is not the Vinnie Colaiuta show, he just happens to be one cog in the wheel and sharing those taping's with the drumming community not withstanding that he at least cover's his cost's.
But to try and MAKE money from it seems a little low for me. The fact that video coverage of Vinnie is in high demand does not make it right. I do not think that Vinnie is getting ripped off(it is not his gig it is River's he is just an employee), like I said he just happens to be there doing his thing with the band, if we look at it that way River's is the one getting ripped off.
I do not even feel right with taping musicians at gig's without their knowledge and SHARING it at no cost simply because it is THEIR gig and they have a right to know what is going on with their material.
On another note, there are guy's on the board who have been extremely generous with their material one way or the other and for that I am very Thankful. They have done it for the sake of helping other musicians and fan's out with no interest of making money in the process. The list of names is too long. But trying to put dough in one's pocket with someone else's work and without their knowledge is flimsy.
By the way I have some RARE! old taping's of the Duke's of Hazzard and Little House on the Prairie, Prime stuff anyone interested??

One positive aspect of selling is that it becomes available to those that may not have good footage that would be worthy of a trade. But to join another forum after sales were successful here is what I have a problem with.
Ciao, Getes here:
If one were to begin reading this thread here, one would sense the underlying sentiment was a ubiquitous phenomena.

the Central Point is: ARE YOU HAPPY ?

Are those of you who either traded or paid for the 4 DVDs of Vinnie Colaiuta on the Joan Rivers Show Band glad you did so?
I have received 100% satisfied respnses personally and the correspondences on this website have all been favorable.
Bottom Line is: Some people are happy to pay a small fee for something they really want.
Others seem not able to break from their own mind set..."I wish my convictions would allow me to pay a few $ for this extraordinary footage of Vinnie..."
(again) Trading is over and the only option left is....u know.
